In September 2022, as part of the ESRC grant "A Unified Approach to Measuring the Costs of Violent Crime Risk", Brendon McConnell and Corrado Giulietti organised a summer school titled The Economics of Crime over Time and Space: Theory, Practice and Applications. The keynote lectures were delivered by Dr Pedro Souza (Queen Mary University of London) and Prof. Yves Zenou (Monash University and University of Southampton). On the second day of the summer school I delivered a talk on webscraping and text as data in Python. The codes and slides used are hosted in the following github repository for anyone's use. Any comments are welcome and all errors are mine. N.B: the github page also hosts the slides used by Brendon McConnell and Yves Zenou in their lectures.
